STOP viewing healthy eating as “work.” I often hear the phrase, but eating healthy is so hard. Well… its so hard because your not making the work more pleasurable.

 

One critical rule that I implement to all of my clients is the 80/20 rule. When it comes to a healthier eating lifestyle 80% of the foods need to come from nutritionally dense foods and 20% of foods can come from the treats you truly enjoy, like that delicious Nutella banana bread that you saw on instagram or a piece of that warm home made apple pie made by your nana.

 

Now how awesome would it be if you ate your respected meals throughout the day and at the end of a long shift you were able to have your favorite treat? Wouldn’t you feel as if you earned it? In my personal opinion this treat would taste so much better because I actually worked for it. I feel satisfied because I knew I had a reward waiting on me. 

 

Instead of viewing healthy eating as a chore I instantly made a game out of my “work” and made it more pleasurable.

 

Implementing this rule allows you NOT to crash or binge eat because your getting your favorite snacks on a daily basis. This is way more realistic then cutting out certain foods completely. This rule is not only important for your physical health but also your psychological health.
